The mission of the East End Maritime Institute is to provide a unique setting and context for education that will enrich students’ lives through integrated programs of maritime history, marine science, seamanship, nautical science and other maritime related subjects. Our programs will empower students to take on leadership roles, encourage rigorous self-discipline and promote intellectual exploration so that they have the confidence, discipline and self respect needed to succeed in life.

The guiding principle of EEMI is to provide an interactive and authentic maritime experience. All academic activities are related to the sea.
EEMI students deal with the rigors of the maritime world and interact with its natural and cultural forces every day. Their learning occurs in context, as they explore and test their new knowledge in a real marine environment. Abstractions of science and math are grasped and tested, and themes of literature and history are made tangible and relevant. Living and working upon the ever-changing sea requires all voyagers to be alert, clear minded, open-eyed and responsive to the environment. This sense of responsive alertness is cultivated as the East End Maritime Institute’s path to learning.
Our philosophy is geared to help our students grow stronger and more confident socially, intellectually, ethically and physically to take their places among the generations of exceptional men and women who have been transformed by seafaring life.

“Ideals are like stars; you will not succeed in touching them with your hands. But like the seafaring man on the desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them you will reach your destiny.”
